Is Gen AI Actually Useful?
I will update this post with IRL examples of using GenAI to try to help me. Each will have a subjective usefulness score out of 10 with 0 being wasted all my time, >5.0 saving me time, and 10.0 saving as much time as a human assistant would have.
- 7/10: Claude Sonnet (new one better than opus) Helping make a concise business goal statement used when meeting new potential clients. Took some back and forth but was creating some nice phrases from longer explanations. This is where GenAI is best suited I think.
- 6/10: ChatGPT(4o) Saved a bit of time converting a picture of a gyms schedule into a calendar (ICS format). Lots of back and forth for it to get it right (zip file to hold all individual events, timezone, events need to be repeating) but it did actually do it! Note: claude can't export files for me so it couldn't.
