Bedtime Classic Tournament
I want a Friday night tournament that finishes on time so I can get to bed but still have a fun Friday night. I will put up a $100 prize for this.
Who can play?
Anyone who hasn't won a game in an Open/AVP level tournament. I will keep the level as high as possible besides that. This tournament is setup to be as efficient as possible for people's time and court usage. I will charge entry fee to cover court costs and then put $100 up of my own money for 1st!
Format
$100 cash first place prize. Doubles, 2 courts, 6 teams. Two 3 team pools so each team is either playing or reffing. Then, top 2 teams from each pool for 4 team tournament. During finals the 2 teams that didn't make it can play on spare court to determine 5th and 6th position. That guarantees at least 3 sets minimum for all teams. Max sets is 4.
Timing
- 4 hours = 240minutes, 30min/set = 8 max sets/court
- 2, 3 team pools = 3 sets per pool
- top 2 teams from each pool, 4 team tourney = 2 more sets for tourney
- 5 sets per court (except finals) = 48min/set
- 15min warm up for first game, <5min thereafter (only sit once for 1 set)
Ideal Time Table
6:00 PM – 6:15 PM Initial warm up for team 2 and 3
6:15 PM – 6:45 PM 2v3
6:45 PM – 7:00 PM Initial warm up for team 1
7:00 PM – 7:30 PM 1v3
7:30 PM – 8:00 PM 1v2
8:00 PM – 8:30 PM Semi Finals
8:30 PM – 9:00 PM Finals
So 1hr buffer, max delay allowable per set is ~10min (with an extra 10min buffer for medicals)
Therefore, if a team isn't available to start game and it is >10min after start time then they forfeit that game, if both teams aren't available then game is now to 15 points. If >20min delay then they rock-paper-scissors for it. No exceptions (traffic, car issues, etc) as this is how we can guarantee end time for everyone else.
Costs
ATX court costs via normal registration is $18/30min so that is ~$25/person to cover courts
